PTO Meeting Minutes

October 5, 2005

Meeting called to order at 6:30.

Comments from Principal Arth: Thanked everyone for the bookfair. Stated that the November meeting will focus on the new report cards. Small buses are now available for field trips. Discussed the purchases of the recorders for the third grade.

Welcome and greetings to new members

September PTO minutes accepted unanimously as written.

Treasurer Report presented by Deanne Rockwood. Actual report furnished upon request.

Mr. Richards the new Superintendent was introduced and gave a presentation to the PTO. He showed a DVD titled "Celebrate What's Right With the World" by Dewitt Jones, a National Geographic photographer.

Up and Coming Events:

Yvonne Boots-Faubert recapped the Fall Harvest Event which is scheduled for October 26th. She states that fifteen honor students will be on hand to assist. She asked that anyone interested, please bring a spooky themed food item (NO PEANUTS) She reviewed the games and stations that would be set up. She also sent sign-up sheets around for assistance or she may be contacted at dollygirl3116@yahoo.com

Field Trips: Deanne Rockwood furnished a report on the total spent for last year. It was discussed as a group to raise the $12.00 per child to $15.00 per child based on the increased cost in fuel etc. Motioned by Dan Palanza, seconded by Lynda Gaudet. So say all. Field trips allotment is now $15.00 per child from preschool up to 4th grade.

Spring Fundraiser:

Four choices for Spring Fundraisers were presented by Deanne Rockwood based on parent input and the fundraising committees review. The following four were presented for vote: Dutch bulbs, Original Art Work, Bike/Walkathon, Raffle. The original artwork was voted in with 12 votes. This fundraiser will be coordinated with Mrs. Sweeney and will involve our children preparing artwork that can be purchased in the form of magnets, coffee mugs, etc. This will be scheduled in conjunction with the annual art show/ice cream social.

Mr. Richards at the end of the meeting opened the room to a question and answer session at which time he provided his email address for further contact on issues concerning our school. He would like to hear from parents what currently works well within the school, what could be modified or changed and any suggestions to try something that is new.
