January 3, 2006 PTO Meeting Minutes

Welcome Members

Comments from Mr. Arth: Julie Lamson will be departing. Robin Singer and JoAnn Fishbine will perform a job share. Interviews have begun for the PE position. Possible dates for PJ/Hat day are January 20th or 27th. Patriots spirit day will be Friday the 6th - hats will be allowed for this day. Next Tuesday Mr. Arth will submit the budget requests for Teaticket the school. Questions raised and answered by Mr. Arth.

December Minutes: Accepted unanimously

Treasurers Report presented by Deanne Rockwood. Actual report available upon request. The new account for the PTO is now in place.

Peace-Builders: Presented by Mrs. Larner and Mrs. O'Connell The premise behind peace-builders was discussed, how the program will be utilized in the school system. Questions raised and answered by Mrs. Lerner. Mrs. O'Connell performed a peace-builders activity with the PTO and discussed how the program is implemented in the class rooms.

Reading Program: Donna Skinner or Ginny Angelo will be in school every Tuesday to collect the logs and record the minutes. Log hats have been replaced with envelopes for the convenience of all. Carla Johnson will make the Dr. Seuss be displayed in the lobby.

Donna has requested new pencils for the program. Voted unanimously.

Adventure Isle: Volunteers still needed. Sign-up sheet passed around. All proceeds to benefit playground update (i.e a tetherball).

Providence Bruins scheduled for 2/10/06. Several families have purchased tickets.

Pasta Supper in March: C.H.I.P.S. will attend again this year. Jan Souweine is looking for volunteers to assist. Beth Valentine offered to chair this event with Gina Colpus-Palanza and Yvonne Boots-Faubert

Art Show / Ice Cream Social – Daniel Palanza will chair, All proceed earmarked for a new school laminator. Lucia and Deanne Rockwood will work on getting prices for the new laminator. Motioned by Donna Skinner, seconded by Yvonne Boots-Faubert. All in favor.

UPS Store gave us a check for $30.00 for holiday mailing program.

Donations: Joy and Henry Paruch have received as a donation from Targe,t and are generously donating to the students at Teaticket School, 300 small am/fm radios and 100 binoculars. They will be wrapped and presented to the students at a Peace-Builders rally. Upper grades will receive the radios and younger students will receive the binoculars. Motioned by Kelly Crocker seconded by Donna Skinner. All in favor. Thank you to the Paruch family for your generous donation! The PTO will also fund the peace-builders bracelets that will also be distributed. Motioned by Jan Souweine and seconded by Deanne Rockwood. All in favor.

Sportswear: Yvonne Boots-Faubert and Carla Johnson are working on logos and a possible on-line site for future orders. Details to follow. The future Teaticket logo will be voted upon at next meeting.

Box Tops - Joy Paruch, Chairperson stated that we have received $560.00 to date from Box Tops. Our next deadline for submission is 2/28/06. Clip and send in as many as you can before this date! All proceeds from Box Tops is earmarked for our children's Art

Appreciation Program (run by Corine Adams).

Holiday Fair - Chaired by Kelly Crocker was a great success. The Falmouth Enterprise attended and covered this event in the paper. The teachers would like better time options for next year as it cut into lunch too much. Was noted by Donna Skinner, who will be chairing this event for next year. Donna asks that if you see a GREAT deal only buy in quantities of 20.

Toy Drive - was a great success, Mrs. Larner stated that many families received help this year. What a great school we have.

Playground Improvements: Mrs. O'Connell inquired about a possible fence for the 3rd & 4th grade playground to act as a back stop for balls and for safety. Discussed the possibilities of adding more painted four squares and tetherballs. Mr. Arth will look into any safety issues for the tether balls.

Teacher Appreciation: Lori Raber will chair and will be looking for a volunteer committee to assist.

Next meeting is in the school library on February 1, 2006. Many great topics including a nutritionist to speak about nutrition and school lunches. Hope to see you there!
