Minutes from Meeting

December 1, 2004

Meeting called to order at 6:33 by Lori Raber in the Teaticket Library.

Mr. Arth Reports:

Family baskets were available for Thanksgiving to families in need. There also will be baskets available for Christmas. Any children who need hats and coats may go to Denise Larner for assistance. Lanyards for field trips was suggested for all students to wear. Looking into further. A petition is going to all the elementary schools regarding training for inspections of car seat placements, which will be run by Dr. Parkinson. Dr. Parkinson is strong in finding grants regarding the safety of children. Deanne Rockwood motioned, moved by Lynda Gaudet to have petition at Teaticket.

Minutes: Reviewed. Accepted with one change, Joe Pignolet would like to donate the light that will shine on the flagpole at night in memory of Mr. Budd. Mr. Arth will need to get an official letter and meet with Marc Dupree regarding this item.

Treasurer's report Received $149.25 for last pizza night. YTD for pizza nights total so far: $369.00 (treasurer's report abbreviated for security)

Security System: Cape Cod Alarms is the company being used. Construction will begin during February vacation. The total cost of the system is $6560.00 The school department will cover $4000.00, with the PTO funding the remaining $2560.00. A check in that amount will be given to Mr. Arth once an invoice is received. Mr. Arth has no intentions of adding additional wiring or extra cameras at this time due to the recommendations of Mr. Thermos. Mr. Thermos met earlier with Mr. Arth and the concentration is on the four main points of entry for the cameras. We have the remaining balance of $5667.00. At a previous meeting Mrs. Mysona requested a new updated set of State books, which was tabled for a later date. It was motioned and moved by Joe Pignolet and Kelly Crocker to purchase the set of books at this time. The remaining balance of money is being held in its own account and will be used for further enrichment programs. Which was motioned and moved by Deanne Rockwood and Donna Skinner.

Holiday Fair: Kelly Crocker asked if she could set up Wednesday night. Okayed by Mr. Arth.

January Reading Program: January 10th is the start date. Will run 8 weeks. A grant was approved for $200. Tony Toledo, a storyteller, will come to the school for the culmination of the program. The PTO will fund the remaining balance. Motioned and moved by Yvonne Boots-Faubert and Joy Paruch.

Fall Fundraiser: A silent vote was was taken to see about staying with Kathryn Beich as our fall fundraiser or trying another company. 3 to stay with KB, 10 to change. Deanne Rockwood, Kelly Crocker and Jana Faiky will research new companies. Will report any new information at February meeting.

Grants: Cathy Ham reorted that we meet the criteria for Verizon Connect, gently used computer programs and she is working on the process. Also, 1st National Book Bank, meet criteria (due to being Title 1) books will be given. She also spoke about a grant which could be given to the school if we were to get a 12 member task force to help with the Falmouth Road Race. To be discussed again at future meetings.

H.U.G.S. Chaired by Kelly Crocker and Lori Raber. Have 55 gift certificates for 69 staff members. Still waiting to hear from other restaurants. Drawing will be held before the holiday break. Great response so far from the community.

Sportswear: Continue to use the same company. Will have knit hats for sale this year. Flyers to go home 12/10/04.

Hershey Bar Raffle: $329. has been raised to date. Kelly will see if she can set up at the ice arena to sell additional tickets. The money raised earmarked for the Art Appreciation program.

Box Tops: Joy paruch has gotten back 57 turkeys with box tops. She will continue a theme for December.

Attachment to school sign: Locust Signs gave another quote for $50 each, for an attachment sign. Yvonne Boots-Faubert will check with the Voc Tech school about their woodworking class to create our signs.

Teacher Requests: Mrs. Sweeney is requesting an easel that she can easily transport around the room to help her teach. It's cost $157.49 PTO requested to see if this could be found for a better price. Will be voted on the next meeting. Motioned and moved by Corine Adams and Kelly Geist.

New Report Cards: Ann Bradshaw would like to discuss the new report card. A specific time needs to be given, ie: 6:30 to 7:00. All parents will be invited to attend.

4th Grade Symphony: The grant for this program was denied for this year. It was asked if the PTO would pay for this event. Which would cost approximaterly $1150 to $1200. It was motioned and moved by Yvonne Boots-Faubert and Terri Kellogg with a unanimous vote to cover half the cost of the ticket and have the students cover the other $5.00 charge. Cathy Ham will look into any other possible grants. It was discussed that we could revisit this once it gets closer to the date.
