PTO Meeting Minutes
Wednesday, October 4, 2006 the PTO held its Monthly Meeting. The following is a summary of that evening. Meeting called to order at 6:32pm Ø Welcome and Introductions Ø Mr. Arth introduced the Destination Imagination Speakers. Ø Destination Imagination Presentation - Maureen Dwyer, Nicole Freeman and Nancy Southwood gave the group a demonstration of how a team works together. Ø Principal Arth and the Teaticket School Council. Mr. Arth gave a brief overview of MCAS scores, budget considerations for 2007-2008 and the parking situation at TT. Contact him with any questions and/or concerns. There are 370 Children at TT this year. Ø Superintendent Dennis Richards gave a brief talk. Ø Treasure’s Report - Available for review upon request Ø Classic Cookie Dough Report given by Lynda Gaudet money and forms are due by Wednesday, October 11th and distribution will be Wednesday, November, 8th. Ø Harvest Event - Yvonne Boots-Faubert - Friday, October 27th form 6-7:30pm. Volunteer Sign up is being passed around. Jan Souweine motioned $600spending limit, Kelly Geist seconded - all in favor. Canned goods to be donated to the Falmouth Service Center and Bracelets to be given out to the first 100 who bring in three ink cartridges. Ø Holiday Fair - December 14th and 15th - Kelly Crocker - it is no longer necessary to purchase items. Mrs. Sweeney and Mrs. Mysona will have the students do crafts to sell. Ø Request from Music Teacher Katie Schmidt for $221 for the recorders for the 3rd graders. The PTO will buy the recorders using the Box tops credit card and the PTO will be reimbursed from the parents buying the recorders for their children. Joy Paruch motioned and Deanna Rockwood seconded - all in favor. Ø Will the PTO be purchasing baby gifts for the staff’s newborns? - Although all agreed that this is a tremendous gesture of behalf of the PTO it was agreed that it is the PTO’s main purpose to spend its resources on the children attending this school. Motioned by Jan Souwiene and seconded by Denise Larner to send cards, not gifts, all in favor. Ø The PTO would like to help a Teaticket Family due to the sudden and tragic death of their father. Anyone wishing to help the family can coordinate with Mrs. Larner. To be discussed further at November’s meeting Ø 4th grade materials needed for science for MCAS - Money needed for books and magnifying glasses. Mr. Arth said the school is working on improving the science curriculum and will be working with staff to get the students what they need. Ø FYI - Lucy Haddon it the 4th Grade Yearbook Chairperson.
